Grand Slider Technical

Dimensions

Depending on a maximum panel weight limit of 250-280kg, the Grand Slider can be manufactured up to 3000mm tall.

Panels can be fixed with moving panels sliding behind or it is possible to have all panels sliding. You can even have an extended track running parallel behind a wall or fixed screen so that panels slide completely out of sight into a paocket, providing almost 100% of the clear opening. Additional fixed panels can be 'planted-on' to both ends if required so widths greater than 20 metres can be accommodated. It is even possible to open up corners completely with a sliding corner post.

(Note - if you are planning to install large glass panels suitable access and crane operation will be required.)

Profile

The system works best when it is designed to provide large glass panels. Each staggered panel interlocks front-to-back with its neighbour so only a single frame, width is visible, ensuring minimal sightlines at just 83mm. Panels heights in excess of 2500mm high and depending upon the geographical location, additional internal and/or external reinforcing profile or even integrated glass fibre strengthening bars can be incorporated to provide additional stability, whilst keeping the profile width to an absolute minimum.

Track options

The Grand Slider system is available as a twin (99mm front to back) or triple track (155mm front to back), with the option of additional plant-on panels. Whatever the opening variation, the track incorporates drainage channels and, depending on the type of external floor finish, can be recessed into the ground to give a virtually level threshold. A cover plate can be fitted to block off and prevent any dirt or debris from entering any redundant track adjacent a fixed panel.

Security

As you would expect, the systems offers a very high level of security as standard and is designed with an anti-lifting device to prevent the removal of individual panels. With full aluminium reinforced interlock between each of the panels it is impossible to lever them apart (BS 7590). The Grand Slider incorporates a multi-point Espag key-locking mechanism and full length 'keep' bar, which prevents the movement associated with inferior individual lock keeps over a period of time and complies with the requirements of the Association of British Insurers. Alternatively a shootbolt locking option can be used when a night vent position is required. It is internally glazed for added security.

Weather seals

The Grand Slider is a severe weather rated system (Category C, BS 6375 Part 1). Each panel is fully rebated, with concealed double nylon brush strips and fin seals surrounding the perimeter of each panel.

Operating systems

The operating mechanism consists of a double tandem, stainless steel sealed bearing bottom-running carriage capped with polyamide preventing any wear to the track, (additional carriages are used if the weight of the panel exceeds 200kg). Acting much like a car's suspension, it runs on a stainless steel guide rail with a hard-wearing threshold cover plate protecting the track from damage. This heavy-duty system guarantees smooth, effortless operation with long life and reliable performance.

Appearance

The system is available as standard in Silver Anodised or polyester powder coated White, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007 or Anthracite Grey RAL 7016. Alternatively for a nominal fee the systems can be polyester powder coated to any stocked RAL colour (over 201 RAL colours available) and even dual colour or wood grain effect. In addition you can specify whether a matt, semi gloss or full gloss level of paint finish is required.

Door furniture comes in Satin Silver or White or Black as standard but can be colour coded to compliment the colour of the door system if required. We can also offer stainless steel effect handles or even feature stainless steel handles.

Complete system

The Grand Slider system can also be manufactured as single doors, French doors, tilt and turn windows and fixed glazed screens, to achieve an aesthetically uniform appearance throughout.

Glazing

The system is internally glazed for added security and can accommodate glazing of up to a sealed unit of 30mm. Our standard 28mm unit comprises of 4mm or 6mm clear toughened glass with Low 'e' to the inner pane x 16mm argon gas cavity x 6mm clear toughened glass to comply with building regulations for safety and thermal efficiency. All units are BS kite marked, manufactured to BS6206A and BS5713 standards.
