Timber Technical
Pitch
Depending upon design and specification any pitch greater than 10° can be accommodated, average spans between roof bars are generally recommended at approximately 750-800mm, please contact our technical department for your design considerations.
Structural ring beam
A timber beam can create clear unsupported span openings of up to 5000mm, so you can incorporate folding or sliding doors around the entire perimeter if required, with the weight of the roof above fully supported.
Ventilation
Thermally broken aluminium roof vent, can be manually operated with a pole or mechanical opening mechanism if required or alternatively there is a range of electronically operated switch mechanisms, including thermostatic control with rain sensor, so you have complete control of the climate inside. The winding gear can be disengaged to enable access for cleaning etc
Weather seals
The IDS Timber roof system utilises EPDM compression gaskets for high performance and durability, tested to CP3 Chapter V Part 2 for wind loadings (up to 100mph).
Operating system
The roof is designed to perform to BS6399: Part 3 and is able to withstand the dead load of several inches of snow, or take the load of maintenance boards to carry out work above the roof.
Appearance
Internally the natural character of wood is perfectly preserved by using Sikkens or Technos micro-porous water based wood stains (i.e. they contain no harmful solvents) in a variety of stain colours. Or alternatively the timber can be paint finished to any RAL colour (over 201 RAL colours available) or different colours or woodstain to the inside and outside. As standard timber roof systems are fully finished which consists of one basecoat and two topcoats; other finishes are available upon request. Externally the roof is clad in aluminium which as standard is finished in white or brown or alternatively can be powder coated to any RAL colour over 201 colours available.
Complete system
IDSystems roof systems have been specially designed to complement our folding doors and sliding door systems.
Glazing
The standard 24mm unit comprises of 4mm clear toughened glass with soft-coat low 'e' to the inner pane x 16mm argon gas cavity x 4mm clear toughened glass providing an enhanced thermal efficiency with a centre pane u-Value of 1.2W/m2K to comply with building regulations for safety and thermal efficiency. All sealed units are BS kite marked, manufactured to BS6206A and BS5713 standards. Polycarbonate sheeting, clear or tinted of 16mm or a full 25mm with a centre pane u-Value of 1.5W/m2K can alternatively be requested.
Installation
All roof systems are pre-assembled in the factory to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, at the time of installation. It should be noted that IDSystems does not undertake any site preparation, electrical or building works.
