Skyline Technical

Pitch

The skyline can be installed on a flat roof with a minimum pitch of between 5o to 15o   Any slope less than this will need to be tilted and packed to the minimum pitch.

Ventilation

In addition to a fixed skylight the Skyline can incorporate an opening vent which can be hinged to provide convenient ventilation when required. The electric motors are concealed within the base frame up-stand or kerb to create to maintain only sky views, while ensuring smooth, quiet and safe operation. Automatic rain and/or wind sensors are available, including alternative controllers should several skylights wish to be operated simultaneously. Over and above the fixed or hinged Skylight we are also able to offer an electrically operated sliding roof. The mechanism allows the whole of the glazed panel to be slide open giving a clear view to the sky with plenty of ventilation and fresh air.
Note – Please note that the provision and housing of all components including wiring will need to be by others.

Weatherseals and construction

Skyline consist of a 100 mm insulated frame constructed from wood with internal insulation and an aluminium sash with insulated glass. The insulated glass is sealed in the sash with a UV resistant silicone. Skyline is built incorporating EPDM gasket.

Operating system

The frame on the outer surface is plywood and is fixed into position with mounting brackets, but will require a roofing felt/membrane dressed up and over the up-stand or kerb by others for weatherproofing. The internal frame is white painted enabling internal plasterboard to be run straight up.

Appearance

The Skyine sash is powder coated RAL 7043 Traffic Grey B as standard but can be finished in other RAL colours if required (over 201 colours available) for an additional charge.

Complete system

IDSystems roof systems have been specially designed to complement our folding doors and sliding door systems.

Glazing and insulation

Depending on specification, up to 32mm double glazed sealed unit comprises of 8.4mm clear laminated glass softcoat low ‘e’ to the inner pane x 16mm argon gas cavity x 8mm clear toughened glass providing an enhanced thermal efficiency with a centre pane u-Value of 1.2W/m2K to comply with building regulations for safety and thermal efficiency. The up-stand or kerb is highly insulated with Rockwool to provide an overall u-Value of 1.24W/m2K in addition to an impressive sound reduction of 34dB.
