SF55/55c HSW Technical
Dimensions
Manufacturer recommend panel widths do not exceed 1200mm and a maximum height of up to 3000mm. Heights greater than this can be achieved; please contact our technical department for advice.
Profile
The SF55 profile is constructed from a strong aluminium extrusion, which has been thermally broken by a 24mm polyamide insulation bar, guaranteeing it optimum resistance to combat heat loss and condensation. The minimal framework is offered as a (WE) square edge profile.
The SF55c benefits from the strength and stability provided by the aluminium and combines it with the natural charm and beauty of timber to the inside, providing the very best of both worlds with a choice of timber profile shape to suit. All timber is sourced from sustainable forests: the standard timbers are Meranti (hardwood) and Nordic pine (knot free-softwood), while other timbers such as American White Oak are available by special order.

As an additional feature should in the future you wish to change the timber type or finish to the inside, you can simply order a replacement set of timber frames which can be easily interchanged.
Track options
The top suspended running track and rail can be concealed within the ceiling and is therefore entirely without the need of a bottom track, with only floor press stud sockets to accommodate the shootbolt locking rods, leaving an uninterrupted floor surface, bottom track option available if required.
Security
The standard locking system offers a very high level of security, with a quick, smooth and easy operation. Each panel incorporates a bottom shootbolt mechanism which is concealed within the framework and operated by an internal flush handle. The shootbolt rods are manufactured in aluminium and linked by a corrosion resistant cam. They are capped with glass fibre reinforced polyamide cones to prevent any damage.
When closed each panel interlocks with its neighboring panels by the means of tongue and groove molded connecting blocks and continuous gasket seals. All systems are internally glazed as standard for improved security.
Key locking can be integrated in the first opening panel or lead door with a five-lever profile cylinder, this can be fitted to either the inside only or both internally and externally as required, additional locks can be added at every handle point for higher security.
Weather stripping
The top and bottom seals consist of twin nylon brush piles giving an effective seal. The double gasket seals between the door panels are continuous and of superior quality (consisting of long lasting EPDM).
Operating System
A top running system with an operating mechanism that consists of double horizontal stainless steel polyamide coated wheels with maintenance free sealed ball bearings providing continued quiet, quick and easy, smooth operation and a long life.
Appearance
The SF55 system is available as standard in Silver Anodised EV1 or polyester powder coated to a semi-gloss finish White RAL 9016, Aluminium RAL 9006, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007 or Anthracite Grey RAL 7016 (link to finishes). All handles are specially designed to complement the door system; standard colours are White RAL 9016, Black RAL 9011, Aluminium RAL 9006, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007 or Anthracite Grey RAL 7016. Gaskets are in Black.
Other RAL colours (over 201 colours available). Even different colours to the inside and outside (dual colour) or different wood grain effects are available for a nominal charge. The RAL colours can be applied to the handles and hinges if required or alternatively there is a stainless steel handle option (Link). In addition you can specify whether a matt, semi gloss or full gloss level of paint finish is required. A Marine environment finish (Link) that is required to all systems within 5000m of a shoreline or chemical swimming pool environment is also available.
The SF55c in addition to the external aluminum finishes listed above, the natural character of wood to the inside is perfectly preserved by using Sikkens micro-porous water based wood stains (i.e. they contain no harmful solvents) in a variety of stain colours. As standard Sunflex timber door systems are fully finished which consists of one basecoat and two topcoats. Clear or oil finishes are available upon request (link to finishes).
Customised
Designs can be customised according your preference - the options include mid-rails, mullions, plant-on bars with dummy spacer grids, deeper top and bottom profiles and solid in-fill panels, among many others.
Glazing
The system is internally glazed, the standard 28mm unit comprises of 4mm clear toughened glass with Low 'e' to the inner pane x 20mm argon gas cavity x 4mm clear toughened glass to comply with building regulations for safety and thermal efficiency. All units are BS kite marked, manufactured to BS6206A and BS5713 standards.
IDSystems offer a wide choice of glazing options, including internal venetian or pleated blinds which can be incorporated inside the glazed unit. These are very popular, especially on internally opening systems where curtains are not practical.
