The Sunflex 70 is the market leader for innovation and design and is widely recognised as setting the benchmark. The aluminium extrusion has been separated by a 22mm polyamide thermal break, one of the largest thermally broken systems on the market. This gives the Sunflex 70 a distinct advantage over the competition by ensuring that it is most energy-efficient, whilst maintaining sleek look and narrow sightlines.
Special features
- Compliant with Building Regulations and severe weather rated
- Choice of profiles - WS (softline/rounded) edge or WE (square) edge
- Full range of finishes, track options and opening variations
- Unique lockable partial-opening position for added ventilation
- Finger safe gaskets
- Full compliment of doors, windows and roofs to suit
- High security, low maintenance, and fully guaranteed
Versatility in design
The system may be folded to the left or the right, open to the inside or outside, and can have panels all folding the same way or split with a number folding to each side. In addition, angle units of 90o and 135o or segmented units allow the versatility of design needed to create large bay or curved radius openings.

Dimensions
Manufacturers recommend panel widths do not exceed 1100mm and a maximum height of up to 2800mm. Heights greater than this can be achieved, please contact our technical department for advice. The system can cater for very large openings - up to 10 metres in any one direction.

Fixed glazing can be built above the door system. Where this is required for wider openings, strengthening profiles are incorporated within the door framework to aid lateral stability.

Track options
There are two choices of track; a standard weathered track for a severe weather rated system or, for improved safety an aluminium flush track set into the floor. This track also gives the additional benefit of a level walkthrough.

Security
The standard locking system offers a very high level of security, with a quick, smooth and easy operation. It consists of a three-point top and bottom shoot bolt mechanism, which is incorporated into the framework within each intermediate panel. For improved security all Sunflex folding sliding door systems are internally glazed as standard with centre secured locking hinge pins and interlocking gaskets.
Where there are an odd number of panels, a five-lever profile cylinder is fitted to the end lead door; or to the first opening pair, in an even number of panels. It can be fitted to either the inside only or both internally and externally, meeting the requirements of the Association of British Insurers.

The shoot bolt rods are manufactured in aluminium and linked by a corrosion resistant cam. In addition they are capped with polyamide cones that prevent any damage to the track when locking, whilst compressing the panels tight against the top and bottom seals.
With all the range of Sunflex folding sliding systems you have the option of internal and/or external handles. Handles are fitted to every intermediate door panel and additional locks can be added at every handle point for higher security. For single access doors, or the lead door, a mortice lock can be fitted where a latching position is required for added convenience. Additional mortise locks can be fitted to the top or bottom of the door, if required, or you can add multi-point locking.
Panic locks can be fitted for fire escapes, etc. Sunflex also offers electric latch-release locks and a rollerball latch lock for commercial use.

Partial opening
A unique advantage over the competition is that the shoot rods can be locked into a second position, allowing partial-opening for trickle ventilation whilst leaving the doors securely locked.

Weather seals
The Sunflex 70 system is a severe weather rated system when used with the weathered track option, providing a top and bottom double rebated seal. Unique double gaskets are finger safe and eliminate draughts. (The system achieves DIN 18055, Category C performance for wind loading and water leakage, BS6375 Part 1.)
More info...
The gaskets (consisting of long-lasting EPDM) between the door panels are continuous and have a unique chamfered design. This means that they interlock and form a most efficient double seal, providing the system with three distinct advantages:
- A severe weather rating that ensures there are no draughts or rattling when the doors are closed.
- It is finger safe - a particular advantage if small children are present - as the gaskets provide a buffer to prevent fingers from being trapped..
- The interlocking of the gaskets together means that even if the hinges were forcefully removed, one panel would be prevented from passing another thus providing an additional security feature.
The flush track
The flush track option is recessed into the floor, providing an uninterrupted floor finish. The bottom seal between the door and the flush track is via double, twin nylon brush piles separated by a fin seal, giving an effective seal. It is recommended that some form of drainage and a slope away from the doors are integrated.

Operating system
The Sunflex 70 is a bottom-running system, consisting of wheels which are manufactured from tough polyamide set around a maintenance-free sealed bearing, giving a quiet, smooth operation with optimum resistance to extreme temperatures. Each wheel and guide mechanism can carry up to 200 kg.
More info...
The advantage with a bottom-running system is that, unlike a top-running system, the doors will not snag if there is any structural movement above. A bottom-running system places the weight at the base, enabling the guide at the head to have a degree of tolerance. With the wheels of the running mechanism sitting high on the track, the risk of the operating system failing due to dirt or debris in the track is minimised.
The unique design of running gear mechanism - environmentally sealed between the door panels - eliminates the need for a sliding post. This achieves smoother operation, slim sightlines and larger glass area. In addition, the self-lubricating, collar-type bearings that guarantee a quiet operating system without any squeaking hinges.

Appearance
The Sunflex 70 system is available as standard in Silver Anodised EV1 or polyester powder coated White RAL 9016, Silver RAL 9006, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007 or Anthracite Grey RAL 7016. All handles are specially designed to complement the door system; standard colours are White RAL 9016, Black RAL 9011 or Silver RAL 9006. Gaskets are in Black, with hinges mounted within seal sightline available in White RAL 9016 or Black RAL 9011
Other RAL colours (over 201 colours available), or even different colours to the inside and outside, or wood grain effect are available for a nominal charge. These can even be applied to the handles and hinges if required. In addition you can specify the gloss level of paint finish. For systems installed within 5000m from a shoreline the requirement for Marine environment paint finish is also available.

Handles and hinges are made of cast alloy, handles are sprung loaded and flush fitting to enable door panels to stack flat when fully opened. Optional lever handles are available upon request for single access door or lead doors.
Large 'D' handles and automatic door closures can be fitted if required, for commercial instances. Trickle vents with an airflow equivilent to either 2500mm2 or 5000mm2 can also be incorporated with the addition of a 40mm add-on head profile; these also can be colour coded to suit.

Glazing
The system is internally glazed for added security and can accommodate glazing of up to a sealed unit of 38mm. Our standard 28mm unit comprises of 4mm clear toughened glass with Pilkington K Low ‘e’ to the inner pane x 20mm argon gas cavity x 4mm clear toughened glass to comply with building regulations for safety and thermal efficiency. All units are BS kite marked, manufactured to BS6206A and BS5713 standards.
